My name’s George Kelly.

I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised just outside the Beltway.

In the mid-1990s, I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Bowie State University before moving to the Bay Area.

These days, I work as an express desk reporter for The San Francisco Standard, “the Bay Area’s fastest growing source for news and information.”

The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine makes it easier to believe that there’s been a blog at this Web address, off and on, since late May 2000.

I shelter wayward musical instruments, including a digital piano, three guitars, two MIDI keyboards, multiple harmonicas, a violin and a mandolin, as well as a few software programs that let me use them to exercise creativity, whimsy, curiosity and ego.

I spend as much time around my spouse A. and our cat Begum as either will allow.
