Dolores Park and back

Mission Dolores Park

Some cities and some holidays just conjoin like stars, and I’m not talking about marketing (eyes on you, Thanksgiving, Macy’s and New York City.) Easter makes me think of San Francisco, and not just because of that lovely stretch in Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods” where the goddess Eostre talks with the Norse god Odin. It’s a perfect place to find the sacred in the profane, where some come to  prostrate themselves before and venerate idols and ideals.

Mary Magdalene and Jesus leaving Mission Dolores Park

Gathering peacefully and embodying Christ with humor (if not humility) and not a little community spirit: something in it for everybody, even if it’s not for everyone.
