On the radar: … every year on or around my birthday, Berlin’s Love Parade used to blow up the spot. (Confession: I’ve always loved the idea of a rave sporting the title of one of my favorite Dream Academy songs — the follow-up to “Life in a Northern Town” that never got off the ground in the U.S, alas.) Thumbing through a copy of DJ magazine today (and enjoying being able to find even more info on MP3 DJing), I saw that it’s been relocated, sponsored by Radio One and set for July 21st. What a blast that looks like it’s going to be … I think pretty highly of Suzanne Vega, and was quite happy to read “Ironbound,” a short story she’s unpacked from her song of the same name on her “Solitude Standing” album and gotten included in Songs Without Rhyme,” a compilation of short stories written by big-time musicians and edited by Roseanne Cash. Consider this an endorsement …
